MIA’s commitment to support initiatives on the environment has taken a new dimension by sponsoring an ambitious project that has been launched by students from the San Andrea Senior School.
Each year, the school embarks on a particular physics and science project and the next one will concentrate on the development of alternative energy sources generated naturally through sunlight and wind. At the end of the initiative, pilot projects to assess the viability of the energy sources will be set up both at the school and Malta International Airport.
Rosette Fenech, Head of Communication Services, said that MIA is glad to see that such initiatives are being taken to improve the environment. “It is MIA’s belief that a better environment leads to an improved quality of life for society and we support such concrete initiatives especially from students. We must emphasise the importance of environmental issues with our young people and embark on projects that will make Malta a better place to live in for our future generations” Ms Fenech said.
Supporting Malta’s Environment is one of three national policies that MIA has embarked on for the benefit of Maltese society. MIA has also partnered with Government on a project that will consist of a tract of land being landscaped and developed into a recreational and leisure park to be enjoyed by the general public.
