Norwegian and Volareweb are the latest new airlines that have commenced operations to Malta with direct flights from Oslo and Milan respectively.

Norwegian AS is operating two flights a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, departing from the Norwegian capital at 14.05 and leqaving Malta at 19.10.  It is one of Europe’s leading low fare airlines, having commenced operations in September 2002 with four domestic routes and six B737-300 aircraft. Today, Norwegian operates a total of 130 routes – 11 domestic and 119 international – serviced with a modern fleet of twenty four B737-300 aircraft in a 148-seater configuration.

Low-fares airline Volareweb.com commenced operations to Malta with three direct services a week from Milan Malpensa.  The airline is operating to Malta on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Volare S.p.A. was founded in April 2006 by incorporating all the services provided by the Volare Group and its subsidiary companies Volare Airlines and Air Europe.  Though a relatively new company, Volare has managed to develop a sustained activity based on the experience it has in the industry mainly through Air Europe’s and Volare Airlines’ operations with a mix of domestic, international and long-distance flights.  With the brand Volareweb.com, the airline’s objective is to become a leading company in the realm of the Italian and European web airlines by offering a service that is tailored to customer requirements and with competitive prices.

The airline is based in Milan and currently operates to seven domestic destinations and eight international airports.  Volareweb.com is expanding ts network with further operations this summer through the introduction of four new international routes as well as Malta.

Norwegian and Volareweb’s operations to Malta are the result of successful negotiations which Malta International Airport plc and the Malta Tourism Authority have concluded in their effort to attract more business to Malta.  These airlines should further contribute towards increasing the seat capacity from Norway and Italy and therefore greater accessibility for passengers.
