The President of Malta His Excellency Dr. George Abela on Thursday 10th December paid an official visit to Malta International Airport where he presided over the blessing of the traditional artistic Christmas Crib as well as the brief ceremony whereby children from the Shalom Choir of Mosta placed the Infant Jesus in the manger to the accompaniment of singing of Christmas carols.

The President together with the Chief Executive Officer of MIA Julian Jaeger than proceeded to illuminate the live Christmas Tree which was brought purposely from Austria. Thereafter Julian Jaeger delivered a welcome address in the name of the management and staff of MIA and presented the President with a cheque in aid of L-Istrina. President Abela thanked MIA and then addressed the guests present emphasising the importance of maintaining the traditional customs that characterise the Maltese way of life. Julian Jaeger than led the President on a show-around of the newly completed expansion of the terminal and finally stopped in the Food Court where an auction of confiscated items was taking place in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
