1. Before Your Trip

Booking of Airport Services

All VIP services, such as meet and greet and porterage, are currently being offered subject to availability. These services must be booked at least 24 hours prior to your trip via email on info@lavaletteclub.com and not through the La Valette website. Should you wish to book or make use of the chauffeur service, you are reminded that face masks must be worn in the vehicle and that each vehicle will only take up to two guests and a driver.

Furthermore, all guests who wish to use the lounge when they travel next, are requested to book at least 24 hours before their trip by sending an email, including their flight number and guest details, on info@lavaletteclub.com. This will allow the La Valette team to ascertain that social distancing requirements can be observed in the lounges. An email confirming lounge availability or otherwise will be sent by the team.

Our journey facilitation service for passengers with autism is also being offered. This service must be booked at least 48 hours prior to your flight by filling the form available here and submitting the requested documents.

Face Masks

Before your flight, we also recommend that contact your airline to inquire about its policy on the use of face masks on board the aircraft. While the use of face masks is obligatory on board all aircraft, some airlines may prohibit the use of face shields or visors, while others may specifically require that a surgical mask is worn. Face masks may be purchased from the pharmacy located inside the Welcomers’ Hall, as well as from vending machines located just outside the Check-in Hall and outside Hard Rock Café at Departures opposite the Non-Schengen Gates.

Travel Documentation

Certain countries require travelers to show a vaccine certificate or proof of a negative COVID-19 test take within specific timeframes prior to departure. To check the travel requirements which are currently in place at the destinations which our airport is connected to, please click here.

2. Travelling to the Airport

Arrival Time

Be sure to arrive at the terminal at least two and a half (2.5) hours before your flight departure time. This will allow you enough time for all airport processes such as check-in and security screening as well as any Covid-related procedures in place.

Car Rentals

If you choose to rent a car during your stay in Malta, you may be asked by the car rental company to drop off your car keys at the airport prior to your departure.

You may deposit the keys at Park East on Level 1, at the car rental offices or inside the designated lockers just outside the offices, as instructed by the car rental company.

Face Masks

It is obligatory to wear a face mask in both outdoor and indoor public spaces, and it is also recommended that you change your mask every 4 hours. Only children who are under 3 years of age and people having a valid medical reason are exempt from wearing a face mask. The use of visors alone is discouraged.

Temperature Screening

Prior to entering the Check-In Hall, you will be requested to provide proof of travel and will be subjected to body temperature screening.

If your body temperature exceeds 37.2°C, you will be interviewed by the Public Health Authorities and may be asked to leave the airport.

3. At Check-In

Documentation Checks

All passengers, including passengers who have checked in for their flight online, must verify the documentation required to travel to their destination at the Check-In desk allocated for their flight before proceeding to security screening.

Safety Measures

All Check-In desks have been fitted with protective screens which are regularly cleaned, while newly-introduced technologies will enable you to scan your passport and boarding pass at the desk without interacting with staff. However, should you need a helping hand, do look out for members of our Airport Care team wearing light blue vests for guidance.

Please remember to keep a safe distance from fellow passengers by following our signs and floor markings.

4. At Security Screening

Contact Screening

We are doing our best to avoid contact screening, but this may be necessary for safety reasons.

Should you need to be searched, please rest assured that our security team will take all the precautions necessary to ensure your safety.

Possible Delays

Security checks may take a little longer than usual given the current circumstances. While waiting to be screened, please keep a safe distance from fellow passengers by following the signage and floor markings.

Safety Measures

While our security screening trays are being cleaned frequently, we recommend you clean your hands with the alcohol-based rub available at the sanitising stations found as you make your way out of the security screening area.

5. At Departures

Departures Hall

Please keep a safe distance by following the signage and floor markings, even when visiting our outlets and eateries. For your safety, water fountains are currently unavailable and seating has been reorganised.

Unavailable seating is clearly marked with stickers or seat belts.

The wait to use the washrooms may be longer than usual; we apologise for this and ask for your understanding. Remember to wash your hands with soap and water after using the restrooms and otherwise as frequently as possible.

A designated smoking area may be found next to Gate 1.

La Valette Lounge

All guests who wish to use the lounge when they travel next, are required to book at least 24 hours before their trip by sending an email, including their flight number and guest details, on info@lavaletteclub.com. This will allow the La Valette team to ascertain that social distancing requirements can be observed in the lounges. An email confirming lounge availability or otherwise will be sent by the team.

Physical copies of newspapers and magazines, as well as iPads, have been removed from the lounge to limit our guests’ contact with common surfaces. However, you may unlock access to Press Reader’s selection of more than 7,000 international newspapers and magazines by scanning a QR code using the camera on your personal mobile phone or tablet while visiting our lounge. Should you wish to leave feedback or suggestions, please ask for a comment card and stationery at reception.

A smoking area is also available on the lounge terrace.

Please note that the use of mask is not obligatory while seated at the lounge. A mask must be worn at all other times.

6. At Your Boarding Gate

Please follow the instructions provided as you approach your gate, but bear in mind that boarding processes may take longer than usual.

Follow the signage and floor markings to keep safe distances from fellow passengers, and continue maintaining safe distances on aircraft coaches.

Should you need a helping hand, do look out for members of our Airport Care team wearing light blue vests for guidance.
