Airport Operations

Malta International Airport has welcomed commercial traffic for over 50 years. The present air terminal building, constructed between 1989-1991, officially opened on 7 February 1992. Its cost was funded by government equity, loans from European Investment Bank, and support from Maltese commercial banks. Designed to handle 5 million passengers annually, the modern terminal is fully equipped with all the facilities and conveniences which travellers expect from an international airport.
