Electrical Infrastructre Upgrade necessitates Power Shutdown at Malta Airport

Shutdowns are planned for the 11th and 14th March
• Operations and flights are not expected to be affected
• Outages will allow for the modernisation of electrical infrastructure

Malta International Airport would like to inform the public of two power shutdowns scheduled for the 11th and the 14th of March, between 1:00am and 4:30am.

The outages will enable Malta International Airport to safely conduct works as part of an electrical infrastructure upgrade and ensure the successful completion of this important modernisation exercise.

The company’s investment in more modern electrical infrastructure will contribute to enhanced levels of safety, and a more reliable electricity supply at all times, whilst increasing capacity for future growth.

The shutdowns will take place in the early hours of the morning on both occasions, with these periods having been identified as the airport’s quietest times. Whilst the shutdowns are not expected to impact airport guests, Malta International Airport would like to inform the public that most of the terminal and car park lighting will be affected.

Additionally, some of the lifts and escalators around the terminal will be out of order, while certain services will not be available during the outages.

Whilst these shutdowns are not expected to impact flights, Malta International Airport would like to apologise for any inconvenience airport guests may encounter as a result of these works.
